Company Profile
Procarta Biosystems is targeting the major healthcare problem of antibiotic drug resistance by deploying its proprietary transcription factor decoys (TFDs) against the resistance mechanisms of superbugs, such as MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus) and VRE (vancomycin-resistant enterococci).
The Company is based on the world renowned expertise in microbial genome regulation of its founding scientists at the John Innes Centre in the UK.
The global phenomenon of pathogen-resistance to antibiotics has threatened the future delivery of new drugs, eroded the clinical efficacy of existing drugs and contributed to an increase in infection rates and a dangerous rise in the number of multiple drug-resistant strains in our hospitals.
Our unique approach is to use TFDs capable of preventing the induction of resistance. When used in combination with antibiotics, Procarta's TFDs will be able to restore the clinical efficacy of these valuable medications, protect the use of future antibiotics and ultimately help counteract this emerging public health crisis.
Procarta's business strategy is to form strategic product development alliances with the most appropriate drug developers and/or marketing organisations to bring our TFD products to the marketplace.
